We are currently seeking a Web Developer to join our team.

Your Role at Batesville:

As a Web Developer, you will be responsible for collaborating with other developers and managers to enhance and support the architecture of applications designed for B2B and B2C use within the funeral industry, including websites, admin interfaces, user interfaces, middleware, and Linux based infrastructure running Lucee; participating in design, coding and code reviews; ensuring uniform enterprise wide application design standards are maintained; and collaborating with other internal and external stakeholders to ensure architecture is aligned with business requirements. Responsible for ensuring system maintenance and performance through identified processes.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist with the technical vision delivery for all application matrix/platforms which provides excellent system performance, an effective user interface, optimal operational cost, and flexibility for future change with minimal guidance.
  • Provide solution consultation on the initiation, requirements, and design for all projects.
  • Administer all aspects of code integration via software control processes.
  • Develop applications in a manner consistent with high-availability requirements; review unplanned outages and complete root cause analysis; and timely triage and resolve any technical issues.
  • Performs regular monitoring and maintenance for appropriate functioning of the applications and systems.
  • Ensure security and regulatory compliance (e.g. SOX) across all Technology Solutions platforms.
  • Regularly examine Business and IT systems, determine trends, and consult on ways to streamline processes and functions to support future goals of the organization.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or Computer Programming; and a minimum of 3 - 5 years related Web/Software Development experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in Web/Software Development experience.
  • Intermediate experience with system administration understanding and management required.
  • Intermediate experience with 3rd-party hosting, including virtual machines, load balanced environments, Apache, Tomcat, Lucee and/or ColdFusion required.
  • Documentation, development, and consumption of REST APIs required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of programming concepts required.
  • Intermediate experience with relational database architecture required.
  • Intermediate database experience (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server) required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio, CFML, CFScript, JavaScript, Git, GitHub, SQL Server, HTML, and CSS required.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Basic – Intermediate experience effectively communicating technical concepts to all levels within the organization required.
  • Intermediate experience with server and PC operating systems (e.g. Microsoft, Linux) required.
  • Ability and willingness to take ownership of a project from concept to deployment required.

Nice to Haves:

  • Advanced experience with system administration understanding and management preferred.
  • Advanced experience with 3rd-party hosting, including virtual machines, load balanced environments, Apache, Tomcat, Lucee and/or ColdFusion preferred.
  • Advanced experience with API Management portals, documentation, development, and consumption of REST APIs preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of programming concepts preferred.
  • Intermediate experience with relational database architecture preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of CFML, CFScript, JavaScript, Git, GitHub, SQL Server, HTML, and CSS preferred.
  • Intermediate experience effectively communicating technical concepts to all levels within the organization preferred.
